Expectations, Rules and Policies
Expectations
I have nothing but high expectations for each and every student. Each of you will work to the best of your ability and be successful in Algebra II. I must emphasize, however, that sometimes the material will not be easy and it will take great effort and determination on your part to master certain topics. Stay on top of your game from Day 1. Set your goals and work hard to achieve them. I am excited and look forward to a great year!
Policies
1. Classwork and Homework is to be completed daily. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to obtain the assignment (check this website) and get it done. If you need help, see me before school on Green days!
2. Extra Help is available on Green mornings in our classroom (Room 908) from 7:30 until school starts. Also, many other math teachers will allow you to come to their classrooms after school to obtain help. If you cannot come in early and desire help from me after school, let me know and we will find an available afternoon to work. Do not use the excuse, "I did not understand the assignment". If you are confused, get help!!
3. Notebooks. Each student will maintain a loose-leaf, 1.5 - 2 inch binder as a notebook. Each day you should copy the date, unit & objective, and complete any bell ringer. Then copy the notes from the board, do your classwork, and finally your homework. I also suggest you include a zippered pouch in your binder where you can store personal supplies. Expect to have your homework checked daily. I will have you copy specific classwork/homework problems from your notebook that were assigned. These problems will be graded for accuracy. Working hard on homework will pay huge dividends. Do the work!
4. Missed Quizzes and Tests must be made up within 5 days of an excused absence. "Make-ups" may be done in the morning before school or with another math teacher after school. They cannot be completed during class time. Work not completed within 5 days will be scored as a Zero. If your parent cannot get you to school early for a make-up, make sure you schedule an afternoon with me. This is your responsibility, not mine. Take care of your business!

Rules
1. Be Here. It is much easier to learn the material if you are here to receive it first hand. Take care of yourself. Eat properly and get plenty of rest to maintain good health. Shoot for 100% attendance. Don't forget -- mathematics builds on itself. If you miss even a small part, it will affect your understanding of future material.
2. Be on Time. Tardy students disrupt the class. It is unacceptable to be habitually late. If you cannot get to class on time, expect to spend extra time with me before school on the next gold morning.
3. Be Prepared. Take care of your homework the day it is assigned. Bring all required material to class. Having to "borrow" supplies from classmates as a matter of routine is not fair. Take care of your own business! Students who do not complete homework assignments will be afforded an opportunity to work with me before school. (This is called detention)!
4. Be Attentive. Pay attention during class and be an "active" learner. Listen and ask questions. Do not talk while I am teaching except to ask for clarification. Do not interrupt by asking to leave the room. Sleeping in class is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
5. Be Respectful. Show respect for your teachers, each other, and yourself. Don't embarrass yourself or your family through thoughtless or disrespectful actions.

Discipline
Detention will be assigned if discussions with you and your parent(s) do not resolve any problem we may be having with your actions or behavior. Detention will be conducted at 7:00 a.m. with your written paper due @ 7:45. Referrals to administration are a last resort
